John Campbell - Director and Financial Planner

John is a founding director and co-owner of the Chartered Group. He has a
BComm from Rhodes University. John joined the industry 15 years ago and
qualified with a CFP in the same year. He started an independent
financial planning practice in 1995. John was a finalist in the Personal
Finance/FPI Financial Planner of the Year competition in 2007 and won
the award in 2008. He was a keynote speaker at the FPI convention in
2009 and has spoken at numerous other conferences and industry events.
He has appeared on CNBC Africa, Talk Radio 702 and written a number of
articles for the media. John has attended several US conferences and
visited other planning practices in both the US and Australia and
believes that the information gleaned from these activities contributed
to Chartered Wealth Solutions winning the South African Best Practice Of
The Year Award in 2009.
John’s passion is helping people understand money in the correct framework in relation to their life.
John is married to Angela and they have four children. He enjoys golf, tennis, running and fly fishing.

Barclay Hoar - Director and Financial Planner
Barclay is a director and shareholder of Chartered Wealth Solutions. He joined the industry in 1992 while he was completing a BCom at Wits - It was then that he identified his passion for financial planning.
Barclay believes financial planning is much more than just managing client's money. It is rather about helping clients live the best possible lives with the money they have. It is about finding balance in life and understanding that money is a means to and end and not an end in itself
Barclay lives by this philosophy himself. When he is not talking to clients or managing the business with his partners John and Kim, he spends time with his family and keeping fit. His interests include tennis, travelling, reading, birding, golf and swimming.

Kim Potgieter - Director and Head of Life Planning

Kim is a qualified financial planner. She has a Registered Life Planning
qualification. In addition she is equipped with a Clinical and
Industrial Psychology degree and is interested in the relationship
between psychology and money.
Kim believes traditional financial planning needed guidance to benefit the client more and she brought Financial Life Planning to Chartered Wealth Solutions. Her role at Chartered is to help clients plan their retirement holistically. This process looks at where the client has been, how they got there, what they are presently going through and where they are going.
Kim is passionate about people. She loves to cook in her spare time and has a husband and three children.

Lionel Karp - Director and Financial Planner
Lionel has been in the financial services industry since 1979 and is the
founder of Lionel Karp & Associates. He is passionate about his
clients and the financial services industry. Apart from being a
Certified Financial Planner, he is also a Fellow of the Institute of
Chartered Secretaries, a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Business
Management and he has a Higher Diploma in Tax Law (from the University
of Witwatersrand). Lionel also serves on the Department of Trade and
Industry’s Consumer Affairs Committee for Unfair Business Practices.
He also has a large curator bonis and trustee section.

Barry Phillips - Financial Planner
Barry has over 22 years experience in the financial services industry.
His passion is for teaching clients the basics of financial planning
while adhering to the "keep it simple" principle.
Barry and his wife, Anne, have a son and a daughter, who are both married. They, are now proud grandparents to three granddaughters. His interests include gardening, reading, music and watching sport. He exercises everyday and this includes walking his three dogs twice a day, every day!

Les Abrahamse - Director and Financial Planner
Les has 14 years experience as a financial planner.
He believes that assisting clients in making informed decisions about their investments is not the only aspect of financial planning. Where possible, he feels it is equally important to coach and assist clients to achieve any other non-financial goals that they may aspire to.
Les is married with three adult daughters, two of whom are married. He also has a one-year old grandson. His has a passion for the outdoors and his interests include travelling, birding, jogging, sailing and golf.

James Carvalho - Financial Planner
James has been in the financial services industry for 17 years and has a wealth of experience from banking to asset management and business consulting, and is now a full time financial planner at Chartered Wealth.
As a financial planner James can fully use his passions of teaching, coaching and being with people. He finds it incredibly rewarding to assist people to reach their dreams through financial independence.
James is a keen golfer and enjoys snowboarding in the winter months.

Caroline Wilson - Practice Manager
Caroline joined the financial services industry in 1996, where she
trained intermediaries and developed training material at Liberty Life.
Although training was a passion of Caroline’s, she decided to change
course and joined Chartered Wealth Solutions in 2007 to take on some new
challenges. Caroline is the practice manager for the company. She runs
the operational side of the business, monitors compliance, and develops
documents for the business. Caroline has a BA Hons and a PDM from Wits,
is a Certified Financial Planner, and has an Advanced Diploma in
Financial Planning, specialising in investments.
Caroline’s interests include reading, watching movies and walking.

Pat Blamire - Financial Planner
Pat joined Chartered Wealth in December 2007 as a Financial Planner.
Previously Pat was employed as salaries manager of Leo Burnett Holdings, an advertising agency. During her term with them she was appointed principal officer of the provident fund, and obtained her Post Graduate Certificate in Advanced Taxation. In her quest to learn more about retirement funds, she studied to become a Certified Financial Planner, which she obtained in 2003. In 2004 she joined acsis as an institutional asset consultant, consulting to retirement funds. During her time with acsis she obtained her Advanced Post Graduate Diploma in Financial Planning, specialising in investments, in 2007. Her goal was to consult as a financial planner to individual clients, and she joined Chartered Wealth in order to pursue this.
Pat is also passionate about nature, and in 2008 completed her FGASA (Field Guide Association of South Africa) Level 1 qualification. She has two sons.

Lynette Wilkinson - Financial Planner

Lynette began her career in financial services in 1993 as a broker
consultant with Commercial Union.
In 1996, she joined Hansard International as a specialist offshore
consultant. She left Hansard in 2002 to join FNB as
a financial advisor in the corporate division, mainly looking after
businesses and high net worth clients. Lynette joined
Chartered in January 2007 and recently completed her CFP® exams. She
enjoys hiking, gardening and reading.
John Hodgson-Jervis - Financial Planner

John started his career in 2003 as a Broker Consultant with Discovery.
He later joined the Gallet Group as a Director in 2006, managing the
Healthcare Company.
He showed a keen interest in Financial Planning and completed a Post
Graduate Diploma in Financial Planning Law from the University of the
Free State in that same year.
He is a registered Certified Financial Planner with the FPI and recently
completed his Advanced Post Graduate Diploma in Financial Law in both
Estate Planning and Risk Management.
John joined Chartered Wealth Solutions in January 2010 and is a keen golfer. He and Monique have twin boys.
